New and changed features in SPC Connect 3.0

Product Version(s): SPC Connect 3.0

Topic last updated: January 2020

SPC Connect 3.0 is a significant update to SPC Connect. This topic provides an overview of new features. See also: Where to find familiar functions from SPC Connect 2.9.

  • SPC Connect navigation

The menu structure of SPC Connect has been simplified to group functions in a more logical way. See Navigating SPC Connect for more information on the new menu structure. For information on how to find familiar functions (or their replacements) from SPC Connect 2.9 in SPC Connect 3.0, see Where to find familiar functions from SPC Connect 2.9.

  • Dashboard

The dashboard is a new customisable page that provides installers with a quick overview of the status of sites they manage. Commonly performed site management functions can be accessed from the dashboard. Installers can configure multiple dashboards to focus on different aspects of the sites they manage. Dashboards can be private or shared. For more information, see The SPC Connect dashboard.

  • Chargebee integration

Any installation company using SPC Connect to manage customer sites must pay a monthly subscription fee per registered panel. Billing and payment details are managed through SPC Connect. A company must register for a Chargebee account to facilitate payment. For more information, see Billing and payment.

  • Sites and site groups

In SPC Connect 2.9, a panel that was registered to a company was added to one or more panel groups within that company. Installers were assigned to a panel group, and could monitor and manage the panels in that panel group.

In SPC Connect 3.0, a panel that is registered to a company must be added to a site, and the site must be added to one or more site groups. A panel can be in one site only, but a site can contain any number of panels. A site can be in any number of site groups, and a site group can contain any number of sites. Installers are assigned to a site group, and can monitor and manage the panels in any site in that site group: operations can be performed on all panels in a site or a single panel. For more information, see Sites and site groups.

  • Eventys DVR management

In SPC Connect 2.9, DVRs were directly associated to panels. In SPC Connect 3.0, DVRs are associated to sites.

  • Centralised operations

Operations that can be carried out on the registered company (for example, checking logs and audit trails), and on the panels in a site or site group (for example, remote maintenance or config management), can be conveniently accessed from the Operations menu.
