SPC Connect system users

When you register for an account in SPC Connect, you must register as either a system user or an installer. This guide describes system user functionality. See http://van.fyi?Link=connect_inst for information on installer functionality.

System users are SPC Connect users who want to access a small number of domestic/work-based panels through SPC Connect. System users can access basic panel functions and reports.

A system user can be granted either Standard User or Panel Manager access to each panel registered to their account. The first system user to register a panel is automatically granted Panel Manager access for that panel; all system users that subsequently register the same panel are granted Standard User access for that panel. Standard Users on a panel can request Panel Manager access to that panel. One user can have different levels of access on different panels.

Depending on policy, system users may be automatically granted access to panels, or may require approval from a Panel Manager.

A user with Standard User access to a panel can:

Add panels to SPC Connect (automatic authorisation) or request authorisation to add a panel (manual authorisation). See About SPC Connect panel authorisation modes for more information.
Request Panel Manager access for a panel (web only). See Request panel access as a Panel Manager (web) for more information.
Access their registered panels to monitor and manage them.
Remove panels from their SPC Connect account.

A user with Panel Manager access to a panel can do everything a Standard User can do, plus:

In manual authorisation mode, Panel Managers receive authorisation requests from Standard Users to access a panel. See About SPC Connect panel authorisation modes for more information on authorisation modes.
In manual authorisation mode, Panel Managers authorise users with Standard User access to register a panel.
Panel Managers receive requests from Standard Users for promotion to Panel Manager access.
Panel Managers can promote Standard Users to have Panel Manager access.
Panel Managers can demote their own Panel Manager access to Standard User access provided at least one other user has Panel Manager access on the panel.
Panel Managers can remove access to a panel for Standard Users (but not for Panel Managers).
Panel Managers can remove a panel from their List of Panels table if there is at least one other Panel Manager for the panel, or if there are no Standard Users on the panel.
