About SPC Connect Pro

SPC Connect Pro is a desktop application designed to support the installation and maintenance of SPC panels with firmware version 3.8.5 and later. Using SPC Connect Pro, you can configure panels online or offline.

To configure a panel online, connect to the panel web interface from SPC Connect Pro and make configuration changes directly on the panel.

To configure a panel offline, specify panel details in SPC Connect Pro, then edit the configuration through the offline configuration editor. A configuration file with your settings is saved locally on your PC by SPC Connect Pro. To send the updated configuration file to the panel, you must connect to the panel.

When you connect to a panel, your connection can be remote (over ethernet or modem) or local (over USB or serial connection). See Edit panel configuration offline using SPC Connect Pro for more information.

SPC Connect Pro can also be used with SPC Connect to remotely connect to panels at customer sites and support them.

Before you can update panel configuration from SPC Connect Pro, the panel must be configured to allow SPC Connect Pro connections.

SPC Connect Pro is enabled by default on new panels with firmware version 3.8.5 or later, for connections over USB and ethernet (port 50000).

If a panel allows ENMP connections, you can configure SPC Connect Pro support on the panel from the Edit Network Settings page in SPC Connect Pro (see The Edit Network Settings page).

See the SPC 4xxx/5xxx/6xxx Installation & Configuration Manual for more information on how to configure SPC panels.

Logging in to SPC Connect Pro

To use SPC Connect Pro, you must first register as an installer with SPC Connect (https://www.spcconnect.com/), then use your SPC Connect credentials to log in to the SPC Connect Pro application.

The first time you log in to SPC Connect Pro, you must have an active internet connection to allow verification of your account with SPC Connect. Thereafter, you can use SPC Connect Pro offline.

Managing panels

You can access and manage panels from the following SPC Connect Pro pages:

  • Local Panels – This page lists the panels that you have set up to manage locally in SPC Connect Pro. You can add panels to this list manually, or from the Panel Discovery page. You can configure the panels on this list when offline, and send configuration updates to the panel when ready. To save the configuration file from a panel to SPC Connect Pro to edit it offline, click Connect   for the relevant panel on the Local Panels page, then click Backup the configuration of the SPC Panel to SPC Connect Pro  .

  • Discover Panels – This page lists the panels detected on your local area network (LAN). You can add any automatically discovered panels to your Local Panels list by clicking Add to local panels   for that panel on the Panel Discovery page, then configure those panels offline. Alternatively, you can connect to any panel in this list to make online configuration changes by clicking Connect  .

    For automatic discovery to work:

    • ENMP (Enhanced Network Management Protocol) must be enabled on the panel.

    • If ENMP enabled is set to Enabled in Full Engineer Mode, the panel must be in full engineer mode to be discovered. This is the default setting on new panels with firmware version 3.8.5 or later.

    • If ENMP enabled is set to Enabled, the panel can be discovered whether or not it is in full engineer mode.

    • The ENMP Port and ENMP Password configured on the panel must match those configured under Panel Discovery on the Application Settings page in SPC Connect Pro (see The Application Settings page).

See SPC 4xxx/5xxx/6xxx Installation & Configuration Manual for more information on configuring ENMP.

  • SPC Connect – This page lists the panels available for management through your SPC Connect account. You can connect to any panel in this list to make online configuration changes by clicking Connect  .
